I love ancient geometry, science, and space topics for many of my art pieces. I also studied and often-still play music.
Over the years I have studied and participated in many aspects of science, math, computing technology and art. I always saw the connection between art and science and would often experience real creative connections between each from various perspectives. At some point in time, I realized computing technology could help me create those connections visually and create art based on those concepts.
While playing and recording music I would see the different visualizations and patterns music produced and it wasn’t long before I discovered Cymatics the science of making sound visible. My mind blown by the material physical connection between sound and matter I experimented with all types of physical sound phenomena.
Sound and tone generators made me realize the relationship between wave forms and shapes. For example, did you know that a Circle is a “sine wave”? Yes, when you track the travel around the circumference of a circle you get a sine wave as output in the form of a 2-diemensional graph.
So, I used a graphic design tool which accepted mathematical formulas to create sine waves as vector art and from there computed patterns which I sculpted by hand (and mouse) to add creative effects. Then I expanded the art to add patterns on top of sine waves containing shapes, which to me represent what music may look like if visualized.
I would say this art combines nearly equally all of my skills I’ve learned over the years from art, science, math, and computer tech.
Thanks for reading this story I appreciate it.
